New in 2016- The market moves to Dogfish Head Brewery every week The Milton Farmers' Market will hold its seasonal Friday markets weekly from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. April thru October with a Harvest market in November the Friday before Thanksgiving. Beer sales only on the Fourth Friday of the month. All of your favorite vendors returning, with more to come.

Boats, Buttons, Beans, and Beer Walking Tours of Milton

Boats, Buttons, Beans, and Beer Walking Tours of Milton Explore historic Milton and find out why boats, buttons, beans and beer are so important here. The Milton Historical Society in partnership with Dogfish Head Brewery offers these tours monthly beginning in May through October. Milton was originally known as the “Head of the Broadkill” and enjoys a rich heritage with 198 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The walking tour reviews the town’s early history and includes a lively discussion of the ship captains and seafaring men who called Milton home. A broad range of architectural styles will be featured and button sheds, barns, and outbuildings will be discussed as the tour winds through side lanes and alleys. The tour will also include a history of the King Cole Cannery, part of the site where Dogfish Head Brewery is now located. Tours begin at the Dogfish Head Brewery Steampunk Treehouse at 6 Village Center Blvd. beginning at 9:30 am and last about an hour and a half.  For GPS purposes please use 511 Chestnut St., Milton, DE 19968.   The walk covers a little over a mile. Sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes are required. Bring and use plenty of sun block.  Hats are recommended.  The cost is $5 cash for non-MHS members and free for MHS members. Reservations are required. Reserve your tour by calling 302-684-1010 or sending an email to visit@historicmilton.com. Tour dates for 2016 are May 21, June 25, July 23, August 20, and October 1. Please park in the Dogfish Head Brewery parking lot off Village Center Blvd.  If you plan to take a tour of the brewery with beer tasting, you can sign up for a tour beginning at 10:45 am right after the walking tour. These tours are first come, first served and always free. You may sign up in advance for the brewery tour in the main entrance near the Steampunk Treehouse.  The MHS cannot guarantee that space will be available for the brewery tour.  However, they are offered throughout the day.

Horseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival

This festival celebrates horseshoe crabs and migrating shorebirds, long considered by many to be a natural wonder of Delaware Bay. Count yourself among the 1,500-plus visitors who annually enjoy: arts and crafts, as well as an art show boat rides down the Broadkill River canoe trips on Prime Hook Creek exhibits games great food music scavenger hunt trail walks at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge train rides for the kids and more This year will be the 13th annual event! The Chamber of Commerce and the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge sponsor the event. Watch for updated activities  coming soon. A shuttle bus will be available to transport visitors to and from the Refuge. 17th Annual Broadkill River Canoe and Kayak Race

The 10-mile Broadkill River Canoe and Kayak Race is one of the most respected competitive-paddling races on the Delmarva Peninsula. It pits almost 100 paddlers against one another as they vie for prizes and medals. More importantly, participants enjoy a day of healthy exercise and friendly sport along the scenic Broadkill River.

Bargains on the Broadkill

The  Annual Bargains on the Broadkill summer festival is an event for all ages. It features over 50 vendors of arts and crafts,jewelry, goodies and food. Also the Great Duck Race offers  many cash prizes to the top 25 winners.Top prize is the Chamber of Commerce award of $500, with many more prizes donated by Chamber members. Come out and support the Milton Chamber of Commerce and enjoy a fun filled day in the historic town of Milton.  Lots to do in Milton on the 4th Saturday of August. Christmas Parade

The annual Milton Christmas Parade takes place on the first Wednesday of December at 7:30 pm. Sponsored by the Milton Volunteer Fire Department it's a fun event for the whole town. Holly Festival

The Milton Chamber of Commerce sponsors this annual holiday event which includes many Milton organizations joining in to bring visitors a spectacular day in historic Milton! Always on the 2nd Saturday in December, The Holly Festival features  many fine hand craftes in the Fire Hall, Goshen Hall, Milton Theater and Milton Library. Santa will be in town for little ones. A holly wreath-making demonstration is offered at the Historical Society Museum. This is a highlight as it commemorates an important industry from Milton's past. The Public Library and many downtown merchants take part with special decor, gifts for sale and  holiday treats as well. At 2:30 following the Holly Festival, the Milton Century Club will present the very popular Holiday House Tour. This event offers an insight to many of the historic homes in town beautifully decorated for the holidays.

Holiday House Tour in Historic Milton Sponsored by the Milton Century Club on December 10, 2016 The Milton Holiday House Tour in Milton begins at 2:30 pm and ends at 6:30 pm rain, snow or shine. The Milton Century Club presents a tour of several of Milton’s most charming homes, both historic and new, as well as three restored public buildings, all beautifully decorated for the holidays.  Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the Day of the tour.
